American Manufacturing Advocate/Author Michele Nash-Hoff
to Deliver a Presentation at the
Southern California Design-2-Part Show

September 15, 2009 American manufacturing advocate and author of the new book, Can American Manufacturing Be Saved—Why We Should and How We Can, Michele Nash-Hoff, will present "Understanding Total Cost of Ownership when Making the Decision to Outsource," in conjunction with the Southern California Design-2-Part Show, October 15, 2009 at the Pasadena Center in Pasadena, California. The presentation, free to all registered show attendees, will begin at 10:00 am.

In an effort to remain competitive in the global marketplace and reduce costs, many American manufacturers have offshored all or part of their manufacturing processes.  While sourcing offshore looks attractive based on quoted unit price, there are hidden costs and risks related to manufacturing offshore that are not often considered.  Ms. Nash-Hoff will discuss outsourcing beyond quoted price and detail the factors included in "Total Cost of Ownership" for manufactured goods.  She will address the hidden costs and risk factors of off-shoring while presenting the many advantages of sourcing domestically.

"We are proud to have Michele present this critical information alongside our show," said Jerry Schmidt, President of TJSC, producers of the Design-2-Part Shows. "Only American job shops and contract manufacturers can exhibit at the Design-2-Part Shows so a presentation supporting their hard work is the perfect compliment to our show floor."

Michele Nash-Hoff has been a manufacturers’ sale rep for over 25 years helping companies select the right manufacturing processes for their new and existing products.  She has been president of the San Diego Electronics Network, the San Diego Chapter of the Electronics Representatives Association, and The High Technology Foundation.  Michele has published the San Diego Manufacturing Industry Report since 2003 and has a certificate in Total Quality Management.  In addition to her latest book, Michele authored For Profit Business Incubators in 1998.

The Design-2-Part Shows are America’s largest and longest running contract manufacturing tradeshows. The shows provide original equipment manufacturers their best opportunity of the year to meet local and national job shops and contractors to source custom parts, components, services, and design. Already the largest show in the region to focus exclusively on contract manufacturing services, the 2009 Southern California show will have over 150 of the finest American contract manufacturing companies exhibiting their design-through-manufacturing services covering more than 300 product categories for the metal, plastics, rubber, and electronics industries.

With a convenient location and a $150 million expansion completed, the Pasadena Center has become the region's primary destination for trade shows. Its plentiful parking and easy highway access make it a perfect location for the Southern California Design-2-Part Show. Show hours are 9:30 am - 4:00 pm on Wednesday, October 14, and 9:30 am - 3:00 pm on Thursday, October 15.
