The two-day event is free for industry professionals and will be held at the Del Mar Fair Grounds with plentiful free parking and easy highway access. Over the last 18 years, the show has evolved from a sales rep\/distributor show to become a major exhibition of local, regional, and national manufacturing companies and organizations.
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

Program Manager Douglas Bodenstab stated \u201cManufacturing in America is experiencing resurgence due to many factors, especially the new and exciting technologies that are abundant here in Southern California, and this event is riding that wave.\u201d

I will be one of the keynote speakers at the show on the topic of\u00a0American Manufacturing Trends:\u00a0 “Reshoring,” Nearsourcing & Technical Training\u00a0at<\/b> 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 30th, Room D in the Mission Tower building, (across from the show registration).<\/p>\n

Cost savings of outsourcing in China are eroding from higher labor rates and shipping costs. Quality problems, counterfeit parts & IP theft cause companies to rethink where to source. I will discuss the latest trends of\u00a0nearsourcing and reshoring and how to calculate Total Cost of Ownership using Reshoring Initiative’s worksheet, sharing a few case stories of companies reshoring. In addition, I will describe the availability of technical training in the region to address shortage of skilled manufacturing workers.<\/p>\n

The other keynote speaker is Daniel O’Leary, Award Winning Author & USC Marshall School of Business Professor, who will present \u201cSocial Media and the Supply Chain\u201d<\/b> at 4:00\u00a0 PM on April 30th\u00a0in Room B in the Mission Towers building.

This presentation will investigate capabilities of social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Delicious, Digg. and others, for their current and potential impact on the supply chain. In particular, this talk will examine the use of social media to capture the impact on supply chain events, analyze the use of social media in the supply chain to build relationships among supply chain participants, and investigate the of use of social media to mitigate and manage the impact of supply chain disruptions.
